purushah prakriti-stho hi bhunkte prakriti-jan gunan
karanam guna-sango ’sya sad-asad-yoni-janmasu

TRANSLATION

Living in material nature, the individual conscious enjoys the modes born of Prakrti (matter). His connection with the material nature becomes the cause of its birth and he meets good and evil.
